Being a first-generation college student comes with a lot expectations, stress, proud moments, and patience. My parents never went to college so they made sure to do everything in their power to give me that opportunity. I am very grateful for my parents and all the sacrifices they had to make. Because of that, it puts so much pressure on me to make sure that I make them proud of me.

The times that were the most stressful were the times where I had to stay late in the library and then wake up early to go to work and school. Not only am I a full-time student, but also a full-time employee. There were plenty of times where I just wanted to give up and breakdown. The thought that kept pulling me together was the thought of making my parents proud.

I have grown so much within these past four years of undergrad. My parents and I learned to do many things together that involved my university. Although there were many hard moments, there were also good moments. I have met the most amazing people throughout college. What made it so much easier was being part of the First-Generation Students organization on campus.

I will now be graduating this Spring and it is all thanks to my amazing support system, that being my family and friends. If you are a first-gen student as well, just now that you should be proud of yourself.
